| Q |
I'm thinking of having the procedure, but I can't help being anxious about pain. |
| A |
The i-Land Tower Clinic QHR System for autologous hair transplantation involves the patient taking an oral drug that induces drowsiness and relaxing for the procedure. Patients may rest assured that adequate local anesthetic means there will be almost no pain during the operation. |
| Q |
I once had a procedure with artificial hair, but the transplant area became infected and I had to have it all removed. Is there a chance with autologous hair transplantation that the transplant area will become infected? |
| A |
Artificial hair transplants are apparently often problematic, with rejection followed by inflammation or swelling. Autologous hair transplantation consists of transplanting the patient's own hair, and so it never induces the sort of rejection that entails inflammation or swelling. |
| Q |
How long after the operation will it take for my hair to grow in? |
| A |
While there is considerable variation among individuals, in rare cases there is temporary hair loss of transplanted hair. Even hair that is lost normally begins to grow back in 3-4 months, and the whole more or less grows in in 8-10 months. |
| Q |
It says on your website that "transplanted hair may once fall out." |
| A |
Depending on the patient, it certainly may. However, this is a part of the growth cycle of hair, and even if a hair does fall out, the hair root remains alive. So rest assured that the hair will grow back again.
One feature of the QHR System is that in a high proportion of transplantation procedures transplanted hair continues growing without falling out. |
| Q |
About how long do the procedure and the treatment take? |
| A |
How long the procedure takes depends on how many hair follicles are transplanted, but the average time of the procedure itself is 3-5 hours. However, the number of hair follicles transplanted varies with the patient. Since the procedure must be performed across multiple sessions if a large number of hair follicles are involved, we can't say expressly and unconditionally how long the treatment as a whole will take. We will be happy to see you for a consultation to examine the condition of your hair, determine how many follicles will need transplantation and explain everything to you in detail. |
| Q |
Why is autologous hair transplantation in the QHR System quicker than other autologous hair transplantation procedures? |
| A |
Unlike conventional hair transplantation procedures that require time-consuming manual work, the QHR System draws on cutting-edge techniques, such as use of a specialized Hairtome and a pneumatic implanter, and specialist physicians perform the operation with advanced medical hair transplantation techniques from donor acquisition through grafting and transplantation. The procedure may therefore be performed in a short period of time. |
| Q |
There's no need for hospitalization? |
| A |
i-Land Tower Clinic autologous hair transplantation requires absolutely no hospitalization at all. And you can return to your regular pattern of activities as of the day after the procedure. |
| Q |
When would I be able to go back to work? |
| A |
You can go back to work the very next day, but you will need to visit the clinic to wash your hair and for disinfection. You will also need to visit the clinic between 10 days and two weeks after the procedure to remove your stitches. However, we are able to arrange stitches that do not require removal for patients who would need to travel long distances or who cannot fit this into their schedules. If this applies to you, please tell us when you visit for a consultation. |
| Q |
Is there any scarring? |
| A |
Once the stitched wound has completely healed, it is barely noticeable even with your hair combed up. And your hair will serve to cover up any scar, so there is no way that anyone you meet would notice. One feature of the i-Land Tower Clinic method of donor acquisition is that the scars are unnoticeable. |
| Q |
How long will it be after the procedure before I'm able to wash my hair? |
| A |
You will be able to wash your hair the very next day. However, the day after the procedure you should do no more than rinse it gently in a shower. We will explain in detail how to wash your hair when you visit. |
| Q |
Will my health insurance cover the treatment? |
| A |
We're afraid not. Autologous hair transplantation is a treatment the patient must cover at his own expense, so it won't be covered by your health insurance. |
| Q |
About how much will the procedure cost? |
| A |
The cost varies with the number of grafts needed in the transplantation. This varies with the condition of your hair, how much transplantation you would like and the density of your hair. Please ask about the specific charges in a consultation. |
